Never Seen at Loon Lake....

Here's a spider that I originally thought was an albino spider. But it's called a Crab Spider, and lives in areas with high concentrations of goldenrod. It comes in white or yellow colours, with the occasional brown version. It is usually found in flowers where it waits to catch it's meals. This is a female and she's about 1 cm across her legs. She doesn't like a camera lens approaching her and will raise her front legs, becoming very defensive, as do many spiders. If you continue to approach her she will jump at you ! From her position on this tire, you can see how she resembles a crab that you'd find on an ocean beach. Crab spiders are apparantly quite harmless to humans.
