What a Handful !

This is a baby Bluejay! You can see that it's head plumage isn't yet complete. They were brought here by their parents a few weeks ago and they have continued to grow since then. They arrive at 6:00 each morning and again at 5:00 for a meal of peanuts in a shell - only the best from Foodland! They are really quite tame and will sit on porch posts outside the windows, patiently waiting for a meal. And we're lucky to have six of them this year! Like other years, we expect they'll stay for the winter, eventually feeding with other birds at our hanging feeders. And, again like other years, some of them will have young early next summer to continue nature's cycle.
