More on the Bald Eagle....
We were out walking the dog yesterday and when we were crossing the river, we noticed a big bird down the river causing ducks to take off in every direction. Then the bird lifted higher into the air and headed toward us as we stood and watched. As it got closer, we realized it was the Bald Eagle. Then another large bird came from the direction of the highway and joined the Bald Eagle in flight. They both continued toward us, staying a few feet apart. Soon they were directly over us and started to circle above us. We soon realized that the second bird was a Bald Eagle too, but an immature one - called a juvenile bird. We think that perhaps this is a combination of a parent and offspring. The birds both circled us for a few minutes and then split apart - one heading back down the river toward the dam and the other heading out over the lake. We think that, just perhaps, while they may have been curious, they may also have been checking the dog - as a possible source of food!
