This little painted turtle was found on our beach, partially hidden in the sand. You can see small yellow-coloured areas on it’s back – these were pieces of pollen that were floating on the water. As small as it is, this little turtle bit the soft flesh on the finger when it was picked up. And notice the sharp little claws….it comes fully equipped to start out it’s life on our lake. We let it go back into the marshy area at the edge of our lake, and look forward to watching it as it grows.
