The bugs are here – but not yet bad! While they seem mostly curious for now – I’ve seen evidence of some nasty biting. If you’re working outside, you will have a cloud around your head with bugs landing and crawling all over any exposed skin. Swarming combined with biting comes next, most certainly in the next few days.
Insect repellent may stop them from biting but it does nothing to stop the constant buzzing and crawling cloud. A head net is excellent as are clothes that completely cover you; including gloves and boots.
And I’m only talking about the blackflies - the mosquitos come later.
But it’s that time of year and the bugs are as predictable as the high fuel prices! The difference is that the bugs will eventually go, as they do every year – making way for our wonderful summer months!
