Watching Over Loon Lake

There's more happening behind the scenes on Loon Lake than meets the eye.  I'm referring to activities carried out by a very small group of people called Lake Stewards.

The activities of the Lake Stewards can be very diverse and can range from water quality monitoring to teaching cottagers about shoreline rehabilitation. On Loon Lake, Lake Stewards are involved mostly with monitoring water quality.

The Loon Lake Property Owner's Association belongs to the Coalition of Haliburton Property Owners Associations [CHA], a large umbrella association representing some 41 member associations across Haliburton County. If you follow the CHA link listed under "Interesting Sites" on my Blog sidebar, you can learn more about the CHA.

Lake Stewards told the CHA that many people on their lakes didn't know who their Lake Stewards were or what they did. To help address those concerns the CHA has produced an informational article about Lake Stewards to be circulated throughout it’s member associations. You may read the article by following this link:

And one of the best sources of information  about Lake Stewardship can be found on the Federation of Cottagers’ Associations website and here’s the link:

We are indeed very fortunate to have people  who donate their time as Lake Stewards to watch over Loon Lake !
