It was October 28, 1974 when a loaded gravel truck went through the wooden bridge on the Gregory Road. It was that accident that soon led to the replacement of the wooden bridge by the current culvert. To-day, beams (shown below) that came from that ill-fated bridge, can still be found on the river bottom . If those who fondly remember the old wooden bridge should venture onto the river flats and look closely enough at those beams, they will recognize them as some of the decking members.
