UPDATE - The Spring Freshet - April 14, 2014

During the past week, the lake water level rose by 46cm (18") and we still have a lot of snow in the bush and ice on the lake.

At the east end of Loon Lake, the water at Trapper's Trail is almost over the road.

The water level is about 15cm (6") from the top of the concrete wall at the mouth of the Burnt River.

On the Gregory Lane, there is a large difference between the water levels on each side of the causeway (the dam side being lower), as waters try to find their way to the dam. And there are no stumps in the culvert inlet.

Noted also that the erosion of the embankments at each of the four corners of the culvert continues to worsen.

The ice pan is moving further away from the shoreline but it has long way yet to go!

The MNR has continued it's FLOOD WARNING for the Bancroft district, which includes Loon Lake.

On a positive note, birds continue to arrive and today we saw the Osprey perched in a tree watching what little ice remains above the dam.
