Much Anticipated Work Begins

The much anticipated embankment repair work on the Gregory Lane culvert began yesterday morning. Note in the bottom picture how the smaller rocks are being replaced by huge rocks weighing over one-half ton. These larger rocks, along with the rebuilding of the upper slopes with slightly smaller rocks are hoped to correct the ongoing erosion problem.

People from the Greer Galloway Consulting Group and Fowler Construction worked all day in windy, wet, and cold weather. The duration of the work is expected to last three days.

Staff from the Trent Severn Waterway have helped lower Loon Lake waters so this work could be done.

And this repair work is the first part of what could be a two phase construction project. The second phase, depending on the results of the 2015 Spring freshet, may include the addition of additional openings, such as culverts, through the Gregory Lane causeway.
