About mid-November of each year, the fall duck migration is well under way.
These Hooded Mergansers are but three of a large flock that stopped on Loon Lake for a couple of days to rest.
Other breeds typically seen are Common Merganser; Common Goldeneye; Bufflehead; Black Duck; and Mallard.
The flocks can be quite large and while some ducks are seen in Stump Lake, the majority of birds tend to spend their time on the lake.
