Around Loon Lake - March 26/15

When I look at the weather forecast for the next few days, I can see that the snow and ice will be slow to leave this year. There is now just under .3 meter of snow in the bush and there is a lot of slush on the lake. The ice has not yet started to go out!

There are two ice fishing huts remaining on the lake and they must be removed very soon.

The Gregory Lane is bare as far as Moccasin Trail and Moccasin Trail is bare to it's end. Beyond Moccasin Trail, there are patches of snow and ice on Gregory Lane. The big hill before Moccasin Trail has ice on it but it has been manually sanded.

Frost has not yet started to come out of the road.

The water in the Burnt River is starting to rise, as it is in the lake, after the Trent Severn Waterway staff put in two logs last week. The rising water in the lake is causing the lake to make loud groaning noises.

Highways in the area as excellent but there are some bumpy sections, as is typical every Spring.
