Around Loon Lake - October 30/15

Wednesday of this week was one of the worst storms we've had a the lake in quite a while! The winds were very bad and blowing from the East - hitting our shore with big breakers and really stirring up the bottom of the lake.

We also had 15mm of rain; which equates to 15 liters of water per square meter on the ground. And when you think of it - it's really quite a bit of water hitting the ground.

The net effect was that the level of water in the river rose enough to bury much of the bottom that was visible in my previous posting.

Despite the bad storm, there were no trees down and the power stayed on.

And speaking of power...Hydro One has been busy brushing lines on the East side of the lake. They are scheduled to be on the West shore sometime later this fall. They do a real good job of removing the brush and don't leave an unsightly mess.
