Around Loon Lake - Dec 27, 2015

Around isn't quite accurate since I must give this report from my ice-bound location. Yes - we got the freezing rain last night, but not as bad as other areas. We have power although the satellite dish is iced over. Our gravel driveway is well iced over, so the Gregory Lane will be iced until enough snow falls later to give some traction. So far, there's no snow on the ground.

The lake still isn't frozen and the water remains high.

The local road reports on the radio and on the weather channel indicate that the roads are bare and wet. I haven't seen any flashing blue light from a sander but that's somewhat understandable since Highway 118 is serviced from Bracebridge and it takes quite a while for the Carillion trucks to get over here!

On a good note, my bird feeders were cleaned of ice earlier and our birds are now getting their breakfast mix of dry sunflower seeds and peanuts!
