More Random Signs of Spring

Today, May 15, is our first rain in weeks. There's been a county-wide fire ban so perhaps the rain will allow the ban to be lifted - especially since we're coming into the long week-end. For those who will want to swim this week-end - the water temperature on the surface and five meters down is just 13 degC (56 degF). The leaves on all the trees are getting greener and the bush is getting so dense that you can't really see into it. The night before last we had two expectant does on our back lawn - a sure sign that spring is really here ! There are two pairs of Loons on the lake so far and the beaver is quite active. Saw one of the otters the other day - so they're back in the lake! The blackflies are now biting and there's the odd mosquito.
