Canadian Lakes Loon Survey (CLLS)
We've been quite busy watching our loon population for the past few weeks. We note that the loons reappeared on April 22/07 after a long winter away. Since then, we've typically seen two pairs on the lake but as high as three pairs. We usually see one or two single loons any time we're out. There's been no sign of any nesting activities throughout the spring, even at areas where loons have had nests before. We've seen one "loon meeting" of seven loons - when loons from other lakes drop by for a short visit. There's been one observation of a loon chasing away another loon from "it's own" area.
