Last night Loon Lake completely froze over. The lake has had frozen bays and patches of ice for the past few days, and clouds of water vapour have been coming from any open water, almost like a fog. Last night's -18degC completed the freezing !
The freezing over has been reported to IceWatch Canada as part of an ongoing monitoring program of Environment Canada.
This is the first time that I can remember the lake having two "freeze-ups" in the same year - since it didn't freeze over until January 11/07 the first time - and this is December 06/07 !
