A Dangerous Ice Condition Near The Shoreline

There's a condition that's existing in some locations around the shoreline that could be quite dangerous. Recently, after the big meltdown, the water in the lake rose . Then it froze over. Then the water in the lake went down, leaving a vacant or hollow space below the ice that had formed. While that ice is anywhere from two to three inches thick, it won't support much weight. I've seen a hollow space below some ice over a foot thick. It's easy to break through the ice and I know of one snowmobile that did - and luckily there were no damages to the machine and nobody was hurt.

I'm aware of two locations where these air gaps exist and both are near rocky areas around the shoreline. But they can be at any location where a gap can form !
