An Experience to Remember

A winter's night on Loon Lake is quite an experience ! It can be very cold, very quiet (except for the distant yipping of the odd coyote), very humbling, and very bright. And that's how it started last night - it was so bright on the lake that you could read a newspaper. Then it started to get dark - as the moon went into full eclipse. It got so dark that I needed a penlight to set the camera. My picture shows the moon in the early part of the full eclipse stage, with the characteristic red/brown tinge caused by the earth's atmosphere filtering out most of the blue end of the of spectrum. Truly an experience to remember !
