Early Morning Visitors

The other night. while I watched the eclipse, I heard the distant yipping of coyotes. I guessed they were up around Portage Lake. I may have been right; for early this morning (about 5:30) I looked out the bedroom window into the grey dawn, and saw two mature coyotes in our backyard. While not quite as large as their relative - the Timber Wolf, they are nevertheless quite impressive with their grey coat and bushy tail. They were only "passing through" as our early morning walk revealed that they went into the dense bush along the river. Perhaps they were going to rest for the day before going hunting again under the full moonlight.....
