This fall, about the end of October, the Ministry of Natural Resources will be introducing more of the Redstone Lake strain into Loon Lake. These young fish are larger (100mm) than fish previously introduced.
And just after Thanksgiving weekend, a trout shoal spawning survey is planned. To see if the fish are spawning, the MNR takes large underwater floodlights onto the lake at night. The suspected spawning areas are lit and any fish are observed.
It will be very interesting to see the results of the survey !
