These visitors aren't exactly what you'd normally expect at your bird feeders but they're no strangers to our spot! The two does and the young buck arrived at noon and left after having a lunch of oats and grains mixed with black-oil sunflower seeds. We're into winter now and as the snow gets deeper and the temperatures start to drop (-22degC early this morning), finding food gets more difficult for the deer. Their diet at this time of year consists mainly of twigs, ground hemlock, and cedar leaves; so today's snack was welcome to them. However, the ruckus created by the bluejays when the deer arrived left no doubt that the 'jays didn't want to share their food!
