Another First for Loon Lake

If you look very carefully at this picture, you will realise that they are tracks of fairly large birds. The picture was recently taken near one of Loon Lake's shorelines where the birds had been busy exploring and looking for food. The large birds are Ontario Wild Turkeys. Originally introduced by the Ministry of Natural Resources as game birds in 1986-1987, the birds have taken hold and spread throughout many regions of Southern and Central Ontario. Until recently, there were doubts as to whether or not the birds would survive in our area. But they have and there are at least three flocks of about one dozen birds living near the lake.
