As I write this, a gathering of Loons has just broken up [ it's 8:42PM] and they've been together about 1/2 hour. There were seven loons this time - splashing , scooting, and bobbing in and out of the water. Lots of wing flapping and generally looking like they were having a great time! There have been several "meetings" lately ranging from four to five loons and lasting about 1/2 hour each.
This is quite a change from last year when there were virtually no loon gatherings seen on the lake.
As of yet, we have not seen any signs of nesting loons.
