This picture, taken on Sunday, shows how little water is flowing over our dam. There are only two twelve inch logs left. But removing those logs will probably not result in much more water leaving Loon Lake! And that is because of the restrictive buildup of sand at the river's mouth ! I can remember decades ago, long before the river mouth was choked with sand as it now is, when there were actually no logs left in the dam in late fall. That's a change that's taken many years to appear !
