Meet Jim and Junior . Junior, now just over five months old, was the fluff ball that many of you saw riding around on it's mother's back in July of this year. Junior's mother left Loon Lake four weeks ago, leaving Junior to fly south on it's own. When Loon Lake froze during the night of December 16, Junior got caught in the ice and spent from then until today in a small pocket of water that it was able to prevent from freezing by constantly moving. That timeframe was the span that we had to wait until conditions were right to rescue Junior . "Conditions" meant that the ice had to be thick enough to walk on by an experienced person; that the ice would prevent Junior from diving while being rescued; and that Junior would be so exhausted from trying to survive that it couldn't escape rescue.
Jim is Junior's very skilled rescuer.
This is truly a Christmas Miracle on Loon Lake!
