To-day is January 27 and the outside temperature is minus 5 deg C with a strong wind producing a wind chill factor ! I've heard of a chipmunk coming out in the winter but this is the first time in my life I've ever seen it happen. It should be well into hibernation and deep in the ground. Surprisingly the little animal appears to be in good health and hopefully it'll make it through the rest of the winter.
