Spring is certainly coming. Melting is occurring and we have between 18" and 24" of snow still in the bush. The lake ice is 18" thick with about 50% white [or soft] ice. There is about 6" of slush everywhere on the lake. We are starting to see "blowholes" appearing on the lake. Some of them are up to two feet in diameter with a large area of thin ice surrounding them. Very dangerous - if you get too close you could go through! The highways are excellent and many of the lake access roads are clear down to the dirt - but only in areas that were plowed!
