A Day Worth Bookmarking...

Today was "Haliburton Research Day" at the Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve Ltd. Each year [or two] Peter Schleifenbaum hosts a day when Masters and Doctorate students present their thesis in the lecture hall. After each presentation, you can ask the candidates any questions you wish about their papers and you can actively participate in discussions. All of the students are generally Forestry students from the U of T and they have been or are actively doing research projects in the "Forest". The topics are wide ranging, informative and certainly very interesting. Peter has made the "Forest" a living laboratory wherein everyone, from students to the Forestry industry benefits from the work. We've been going since the day's inception and wouldn't miss it. And there are no costs involved. Watch for it being advertised in the Spring of each year and periodically check at the "Forest" website or call the office to book a spot. I've put a link To the "Forest" in the "Interesting Sites" sidebar widget.
