Some very good news ! Over the past few decades, many thousands of Lake Trout have been introduced into our lake's cold deep waters. But few have been seen and even fewer have been caught. However - they have survived and they are here ! Each year in the Springtime, lake trout come to shallower waters to feed and get more oxygen . Our lake trout can be seen on a fish finder early in the morning - just after sunrise - in 25 feet of water. And they can be seen at 65 feet at mid-morning. [During the warmer summer months, I've seen them in over 100 feet of water ] ! It's true and there are big schools of trout. And while there are varying sizes, some of the fish are quite large. Like most fish, they can be found swimming along the steeply contoured drop-offs. They do tend to roam and not stay in the same area.
So that's the good news - now the trick is to learn how to catch them....
