Our Summer Lakewater

The lake is about the warmest it's been in years for swimming. The temperature on the surface is about 80 degF and is the same at 15 feet down. The Secchi depth is the same as other years for this time - about 15 feet. The pH of the water is 6.8 with total alkalinity at 80 mg/L - which is about normal. I took three samples of water to test for invasive species and the water, while it didn't have the same level of gelatinous consistency as last year, had considerable algae and lots of very micro-sized creatures swimming about - undoubtedly a hatch!

I note from the Coliform testing that the results are all slightly higher than normal - which I would tend to attribute to the fact that the lake water has been held at the same high level for several weeks, with inflows, rain events and with no drawdowns. Here's a link to the latest test results:
