Last night, there was a deer take down on Gregory Lane, right at the Moccasin Trail sign. The wolves killed the deer on Gregory Lane and completely dismembered the body, taking all of the parts onto the ridge just north of the road. On discovering the site of the kill, we noticed a black wolf sitting on it's haunches, on the hill, about 30 yards away, watching us . And it was accompanied by a gray wolf - also watching us! We immediately left the site to get our camera and then return, hoping to get some wolf pictures. But on our return, the wolves had ventured back into the bush. And there was nothing left of the deer carcass to photograph.
Tracks in the snow showed us that there had been several wolves involved in the kill and that they had all taken portions into the bush to feed.
