Each day, the problem of filling the lake in bitter cold weather seems to worsen. Here’s my neighbours dock lifted out of the water by the ice as it jams into the shoreline or anything in it’s way. I spent this afternoon chopping ice away from my boathouse footings and tomorrow I plan to drill a series of overlapping holes in the ice with my ice auger, hopefully to relieve pressure near the footings. I’ve asked the Trent Severn Waterway people if there’s anything they can do and I await their response. Perhaps pulling a log from the dam will help, as will warmer weather!
