It’s All About The Birds…

Rose_Breasted 008

Winter bird feeding at Loon Lake is perhaps one of the most interesting pastimes during our harsh winter - and it helps our wild birds survive!

Follow this link to a short article I’ve written about Project FeederWatch, a winter scientific and bird feeding program that has a lot more to it than one can imagine:

In our case, getting started with the program a few years ago has turned us into avid, year-round birdwatchers.

The colourful fellow above is a Rose-Breasted  Grosbeak that initially came to our side window to try to catch bugs caught in spider webs. It arrived this past weekend, just after FeederWatch ended for this year. We’ve had the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak visit before and while magnificent to see, it is also a very friendly and sociable bird.
