Having returned last night from three weeks in Northern Ontario, I was surprised to see that the lake water has dropped as far as it has for this time of year. While it still has a way to go to it’s current low point, it still seemed unusual to see so much of a beach this early. It makes me think however just how low the water used to drop before the mouth of the river filled in with so much sand - when I could walk out from shore about thirty feet on top of a dry shoal! That will probably never happen again without removing sand from mouth of the river.
