This picture was taken at 3:00 PM today. Now, at 7:30 PM, the ice is “officially” gone from Loon Lake. This is the earliest date the ice has gone out, beating the record of April 3, 2010.
The combination of the past few warm days, with lots of sun and windy conditions, is what caused the ice to leave early.
