This year has been a very odd year for loon observations. So far, it appears that there have been no nesting loons on the lake. We have observed loons that exhibited behaviour as if they were nesting but close examination of nearby areas has not revealed any active nests. And old nesting sites have not been used or rebuilt. I won’t yet say there are no juvenile loons this year, because loons are masters at hiding their young.
