A Slushy Spring

It's almost coincidence, but with the official coming of Spring on March 20, Loon Lake has suddenly become very slushy! It happened after some warmer, rainy days over the past week. There's about 20 cm of pure slush on top of the lake ice, which makes travel by foot, ATV, or Snowmobile very difficult. The difficult travel is now compounded by the night time temperatures that drop to below 0° C, creating a thin ice layer on top of the slush. While slush has been prevalent over the past few winters, this year's  abnormal build up of snow on the lake has created a very nasty condition - one to avoid!
