It looks like we're definitely out of winter. The snow is gone from the bush and the ice is off the lake. The lake water level is below the traditional "high water" mark on a concrete wall. The lake water temperature is 8 deg C. The leeks and other Spring flowers are starting to appear in the bush. The first invasion of flies has started, but they're not a biting species - however, if you're on the lee side of anything, like a cottage, it pays to keep your mouth shut when breathing!
The Loon Lake road is open, although I haven't been along Holdsworth Drive extension. The Gregory Lane is open as far as the deep washout just before the road turns west toward Portage Lake. I haven't yet heard about any scheduled repairs. Cottages beyond the washout are accessible by walking. Gravel roads in the area can still have soft spots and soft shoulders!
