Around Loon Lake - May 13

Our weather has been absolutely perfect as we head toward Summer!
The warblers have been returning and many of our Wintertime birds have gone into the bush to have families. Interestingly, the male White-breasted Nuthatch still comes for breakfast and dinner each night. The female is staying in the bush near the nest.

The trees are about one-half fully leaved and wildflowers are in the deep bush. The Trillium is just starting to emerge.

Along with this time of year come the BUGS ! There are no mosquitoes yet, but the black flies are certainly here. Yesterday they started to swarm but by the weekend, they will be biting.

Precautionary measures are needed.

It's also time to be careful when venturing outdoors. While none have been sighted yet, it's prudent to be bear-wise if going out for a walk or a jog!
