It's finally here ! While our past winter wasn't particularly hard, it certainly was long and drawn out.
Our lake water is high and all of the roads around the lake are in good shape.
Most of our summer birds have returned and the winter birds, with the exception of one white breasted nuthatch and one chickadee have all gone into the bush to nest. We expect they will bring their young to see where they get their winter food in late June/early July.
Walleye season opens Saturday night, and if the fish we've seen during spawning season are any indication, we should have a good year fishing.
The blackflies are definitely following their yearly cycle and they are biting.
Do be aware, if you're on the West Shore of Loon Lake that the Gregory road will be closed Tuesday morning at 8:00 for a period of one week or slightly longer in order for construction work to complete.
Have a Great Long Weekend !
