A Nightime Visitor
Here is a Fisher, one of the animals that lives in our forests. It's the second largest member of the weasel family with a body about two feet long and a tail about one and one-half feet long. It doesn't fish. despite it's name and is a completely dry land animal. It weighs about twelve pounds and it's territory is up to ten square miles. This Fisher has lived in this area for a few years and can sometimes be seen during daytime hours. While the Fisher is known for it's ability to hunt and kill porcupines, it will also east the remains of wolf-killed deer. This picture was taken at a gut pile from a deer taken during this year's hunting season.
