On April 19, 2013, the lake water got sufficiently high on Loon Lake that there was flooding of the lowlands in the vicinity of the mouth of the Burnt River; properties were damaged; docks stored high out of the water floated; and the Gregory Lane washed out in several locations, requiring expensive repairs. Permanent residents were unable to drive from the West Shore of the lake and emergency services to that area were severely affected.
My year end update addresses whether or not a repeat of the above disaster can reoccur and what actions should be taken.
