Around Loon Lake - January 16, 2014

We've had quite the Spring thaw. Snow in the bush has dropped by about one foot and there is considerable slush on the lake. Main highways are excellent.

The West Shore's Gregory Lane has considerable ice on it but I had it sanded this past week, so it's quite drivable from the highway to the end of Moccasin Trail. The Gregory Lane beyond Moccasin Trail remains unsanded ice.

The Loon Lake Road, being Municipal, is well sanded to it's turning circle.

Deer are being fed by local residents along Highway 118 near the Loon Lake Road and opposite the Loon Lake dam. Be particularly watchful when driving in those areas  to avoid an accident.

Yesterday on the way into Haliburton, we saw a large wolf on the ice between the dam and the highway. We believe it knows where to go to get it's food!
