Multi-User Bird Feeder

Our twelve year old bird feeder has seen it's share of visitors! While racoons and squirrels are frequent, this winter has seen two flying squirrels almost every night as well as deer late in the day and early in the mornings. And yes, there are birds during the day. Our birds this winter include black-capped chickadees; white-breasted nuthatches; bluejays (29 of them); hairy and downy woodpeckers; American tree sparrows; purple finches; gold finches; and American crows. We had a recent visit from "Rusty", a red-breasted nuthatch that we first met over five years ago. He returned this past summer with two youngsters and again last week by himself for only a few minutes. "Rusty" is unique in that red-breasted nuthatches are quite rare in this area, he is very friendly, and we know he lives quite a distance away from our home!
