Here is a link to the MNR website where the Flood Outlook can be read in detail. When you arrive at the page, scroll down to the section titled "Bancroft District".
In talking to the Trent Severn Waterway staff yesterday, they advised me that the Loon Lake dam is visited daily and water levels are checked and corrective actions are taken as required.
The draw down of these high levels may seem slow, but I am glad that it is not faster.
Readers of this Blog will appreciate that there are still serious erosion conditions at the newly installed culvert on the Gregory Lane.
The embankments surrounding this culvert continue to erode and wash away. If water were to be drawn from the lake at a rate faster than it currently is, I believe that the possibility of a complete culvert washout does exist.
The results would be catastrophic and West Shore residents would be without road access until repairs were made or the culvert replaced.
