Around Loon Lake - Proof of Spring Coming
As I write, first light has arrived and it's minus 25 degC.
Not to despair - here's proof that Spring is indeed on the way!
Every year, for the past few years, our Dove arrives from down South, just before warming starts. She stays and feeds for not much longer than three days before moving on. It's a ritual that's almost unbelievable. She also stops here for a couple of days in late November, after we've started our winter bird feeding!
Around Loon Lake, we still have a lot of snow and the Trent Severn Waterway people tell us there's not been much melting yet and that the lake ice is very thick. Our own lake water level is still very low.
The roads on each side of the lake are well plowed and we have high banks of snow on their sides.
But Spring is definitely coming!
