Believe it or not, this is not a mature Pine tree in the center of my photo! It's a cell phone tower made to look like a tree! We saw it last week on the north side of Highway 60 in Algonquin Park. There's another one beside Highway 117, just west of Dorset. They are built where people don't want to see cell towers on the horizon. I've heard there's one wanted near Percy Lake, north of Haliburton.
Now - back to Loon Lake. The lake remains frozen but not what I'd consider safe for travel. We have about 15 cm (6 inches) of light fluffy snow on the ground. The Gregory Lane is plowed from Highway 118 to the end of Moccasin Trail. Loon Lake road is plowed to it's turning point.
Our lake water level is slowly rising and is up about .05 meters or 2 inches. That makes it above the historical low level for this time of year.
The main highways in our area have been good. Check for road conditions anytime on my sidebar link.
