This has been a "weather week" to remember. Yes, it's been outright hot, but the humidex has been almost unbearable. While we're fortunate enough to have air conditioning, you can't escape the environment when you have to go to town to shop! Coupled with the heat wave, we've had torrential downpours that have necessitated bucketful counting bailing of the boat. And last night's thunder and lightning storm was really "rockin"!
The main road into our place from the highway, which by the way was just graded, had numerous small washouts. It will be fixed soon, but travel hasn't been affected!
On a real good news front, our loon is still on the nest. She's due and something is about to happen because there's a male guard loon floating around just offshore from the nest.
This is all really quite remarkable this year. And I'm referring to the heavy usage of Snake Island by people with pontoon boats. It's like picnic island - something I haven't seen before. Our loon must have become quite hardened to the noise and commotion of pontoon boats, paddle boards, and swimmers to hold her ground on the nest.
We wish her only the best over the next few days!
