We're Drying Up !

We're even feeling the effects of the drought at Loon Lake. This chart is from the Trent Severn Waterway and shows that our water level will drop an additional 18 centimeters (7 1/4") between August 8 and August 22.

While we're not visually as hard hit by the drought as the Peterborough area, our fields and grasses are starting to get brown. And what's really different from other years is that some of the trees are starting to show tinting toward fall colours.

There is a COMPLETE fire ban in this area which attests to the seriousness of the drought.

If you're coming up, please respect the fire ban and be wary of low waters when boating in areas like the government dock channel or around known shoals.
