It's Good Friday morning, full sunlight, and -12 degC. Despite the temperature and the prediction of a famous meterologist that we will have six more weeks of winter, I remain optimistic that spring is here now. There are more signs every day. Our three crows that have been here every year for several years have returned; the ice fishers are busy chopping the ice from around their huts in preparation for taking them off the lake; the depth of snow is gradually diminishing; signs of melting are appearing on our road and the highway; and we had a red-winged blackbird at our feeder yesterday !
Every year the ice goes off the lake around the third week in April .....and that's not far away !
